Town in 🇩🇪 Germany with a population of around 5 thousand people.

Oberammergau is a small town in the Bavarian Alps, best known for the world-famous Passion Play that is performed here every ten years. The play, based on the life and death of Jesus Christ, is the largest and most expensive amateur production in the world, and tickets are in high demand. The town is also home to the Bavarian Museum of Prehistory, housed in a former monastery, and the Werdenfels Museum, which features exhibits on the local culture and history. Oberammergau is a popular tourist destination, especially in the summer months, and there are plenty of restaurants, bars and shops in the town centre.
