Yemen is an Arab country located in the southwestern corner of the Arabian Peninsula. It is bordered by Saudi Arabia to the north, the Red Sea to the west, the Gulf of Aden and Socotra to the south, and Oman to the east. Yemen is one of the oldest centers of civilization. It has a long history of trade and cultural exchange with the Arabian Peninsula, the Indian subcontinent, Africa, the Mediterranean, and Europe. The official language of Yemen is Arabic.

Yemen is a mountainous country with a temperate climate. The capital, Sana'a, is located in the western part of the country. The coastal plain of Tihamah is to the west of Sana'a and extends along the Red Sea from the Gulf of Aden to the border with Oman. The central highlands are located inland from the coastal plain and extend eastward from the Tihamah to the border with Saudi Arabia.

The country is home to the oldest mosque in the world, the Great Mosque of Sana'a, which was built in the 7th century. Sana'a is also the world's oldest continuously inhabited city.

The cuisine of Yemen is very diverse. Yemeni dishes are usually made with rice, meat, vegetables, and spices. One of the most popular dishes is saltah, which is a stew made with lamb or chicken, tomatoes, onions, and chili peppers. Another popular dish is fahsa, which is a rice and bean dish.
