Sa Pa

A trekkers green paradise.

Sa Pa is a small town in the north-west Vietnam, near the border with China. It is a popular tourist destination, especially among Vietnamese people, because of its natural scenery and cultural diversity. The town is set in a valley in the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, at an altitude of 1,600 metres (5,249 feet). Sa Pa is particularly well known for its rice terraces, which are often cited as the most stunning in all of Vietnam. The area is also home to a large number of different ethnic minority groups, including the Black Hmong, Dao, and Tay. This cultural diversity is on display in the town's markets, where visitors can buy traditional handicrafts and clothing.
