Bled

A fairytale-like lake and a castle.

Tucked away in the Julian Alps, Bled is one of Slovenia’s most picturesque towns. The emerald-green lake, ringed by snow-capped mountains, is the focal point, but there’s also an impressive castle, a baroque church and a host of activities on offer, from hiking and cycling to skiing and swimming. In the summer months, the town is packed with tourists, but it’s still worth a visit, especially if you can get there early or late in the day. In the winter, Bled is a ski resort with a small but decent ski area.
