Kragujevac is a city in central Serbia, located at the confluence of the Sava and the Morava rivers. It is the administrative center of the Šumadija District. The city has a population of 179,510 inhabitants, while the urban area has a population of 265,330 inhabitants. Kragujevac was founded in 1818 as an agricultural settlement. In 1885, it became a municipality, and in 1948, it became a city. Kragujevac is the home of the Serbian military, industrial, and automotive industries. The city is also the birthplace of the Kragujevac massacre.
