Namche Bazaar

High altitude gateway to Mount Everest.

Namche Bazaar is a Sherpa town in the Khumbu region of Nepal. It is located at an altitude of 3,440 metres (11,286 ft). Namche is the main trading centre in the Khumbu region and is home to many trekking agencies, hotels and lodges. It is also the home of the Sagarmatha National Park Headquarters and has a police station.

The town is a popular stop for trekkers and mountaineers on their way to Mount Everest and other peaks in the area. It is also a popular spot for shopping, with many Tibetan and Nepali traders selling a variety of goods, including local handicrafts.
