Longyearbyen

The world’s northernmost town, Longyearbyen is located on the Norwegian island of Spitsbergen in the Svalbard archipelago. With a population of just over 2,000, it’s a small and isolated community, but one that’s rich in history and natural beauty. The dramatic landscape is dominated by glaciers and snow-capped peaks, while the coastline is dotted with picturesque fjords. Wildlife is abundant, with polar bears, reindeer and arctic foxes among the many species that can be seen in the area. Longyearbyen is also home to the world’s northernmost brewery and the Svalbard Global Seed Vault, a secure facility that stores seeds from around the world.
