Naypyidaw

Naypyidaw, also known as Naypyitaw, is the capital of Myanmar. It is located in the center of the country, approximately 320 kilometers north of Yangon. The city was founded on November 6, 2005, and the full name is the Union City of Naypyidaw. The city has a population of 924,608 as of 2014.

Naypyidaw is a planned city, and its design is based on the capital of the Burmese empire, Mandalay. The city is laid out in a grid pattern, with a large artificial lake in the center. The city is surrounded by a wall, and is heavily guarded.
