Maseru is the capital and largest city of Lesotho. It is also the capital of the Maseru District. Located on the Caledon River, Maseru is Lesotho's commercial and administrative centre. The city was founded in 1869 by Moshoeshoe I, the first king of Lesotho. Maseru is home to the Morija Arts & Cultural Festival. The city is also home to the Lesotho National Museum, the Morija Art Gallery, and the Lesotho Textile Museum. The oldest mosque in Lesotho is the Maseru Sunni Mosque.
