Limburg an der Lahn

The city of Limburg an der Lahn is located in the state of Hesse in western Germany. It is situated on the right bank of the river Lahn, approx. 20 km east of Koblenz and approx. 60 km north of Frankfurt am Main. With approx. 33,000 inhabitants, Limburg is the second largest city in the district of Limburg-Weilburg.

The city's landmark is the Limburg Cathedral, which is located on the Domberg (Cathedral Hill) and is the seat of the Catholic Diocese of Limburg. The cathedral was built in the 12th century in the Romanesque style and has been rebuilt and enlarged several times since then. The current building is a Gothic hall church.

Other sights of interest in Limburg include the old town with its many half-timbered houses, the town hall, the St. John's Church and the castle of Limburg.
