Sankt Gallen is one of those rare places that is interesting and beautiful in equal measure. Located in the northeast of Switzerland, the city is overlooked by the Appenzell Alps, and its narrow streets and alleyways are crammed with ancient churches and impressive townhouses. The main square, the Hof, is a lovely spot to while away an afternoon, and the city’s many art galleries and museums are well worth a visit.
