Vidin

Vidin is a small city in northwestern Bulgaria, on the banks of the Danube River. It's known for its fortress, Baba Vida, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983. The fortress dates to the 10th century and features towers, ramparts and a moat. Other sights include the 18th-century Vidin Synagogue and the 11th-century Church of St. John the Baptist. Vidin is also a popular stop for cruises on the Danube.
