Zell am See is a postcard-perfect town in the Austrian Alps, set against a backdrop of snow-capped peaks and glistening lakes. It’s one of the busiest ski resorts in the country, but it’s also a great place to visit in summer, when the mountains are alive with hikers and cyclists. The town is small and charming, with a lively pedestrianised centre and a lakeside promenade. There are plenty of good restaurants and bars, and a lively nightlife in the ski season. Zell am See is also a great base for exploring the surrounding area, with plenty of stunning lakes and mountain trails to discover.
